Overview
What SI Fabrik does, the pieces it's made of, and when to run it on your Mac or on a server.
SI Fabrik is an orchestrator for coding agents. It implements the Symphony service specification: it polls an issue tracker, gives every eligible task its own workspace, and runs Claude Code (or the Codex app-server) turn after turn until the task reaches a hand-off state, usually Human Review. Agents run sandboxed in Docker or in a Cloudflare Container, and SI Fabrik delivers their work as a branch and a pull request.
What you get#
- Mission Control: live stats, a token-throughput chart, a card for every running agent, the retry queue, recent runs and a system check.
- Board: a Kanban board per project. On the built-in board and on ClickUp you can drag tasks between columns, create tasks and comment. GitHub boards are read-only.
- Live Agents: a streaming transcript for each session (assistant text, thinking, tool calls and results) with token, cost and turn counters.
- Workflow editor: a form, a prompt preview and the raw source for each project's
WORKFLOW.md. Saving hot-reloads the project. - Sandboxes: Docker engine status, one-click image builds, the containers SI Fabrik started, and Cloudflare sandboxes.
- Project links and linked tasks: a project can use another project's code, run its app next to the agent, and file tasks in projects that accept them.
- Guardrails: daily budgets, per-task cost caps, automatic parking of failing tasks and pausing of failing projects.
- Activity: a structured
key=valuelog of every decision the orchestrator makes. - A menu bar extra,
harness://deep links, notifications, and credentials in the Keychain.
Two modes: Local and Remote#
SI Fabrik has one engine and two ways to run it.
| Local mode | Remote mode | |
|---|---|---|
| Where the engine runs | Inside the Mac app | harnessd, a headless server on a Linux VM (macOS works too) |
| Who uses it | You, on this Mac | Your team, from the Mac app through an SSH tunnel |
| Where secrets live | Your login Keychain | secrets.env on the server, plus a write-only overlay |
| Where repos and workspaces live | On your Mac | On the server |
| Accounts | None | viewer, operator and admin accounts with optional authenticator codes |
In Remote mode, clients never hold model or tracker credentials. The Mac app shows a server's projects with the same Board, Agents, Runs, Workflow and Workspaces screens as local ones, and a server's settings with the same tabs as the app's own Settings window.
You don't choose a mode up front. Add local projects in the sidebar's Projects section, and connect servers in its Servers section. Both can be open at the same time.
The pieces#
- The Mac app (
SI Fabrik.app). Requires macOS 26 or later. It runs the engine in-process for local projects and is the client for servers. harnessd, the Remote-mode server. It runs the same engine,HarnessCore, with authentication, roles, an audit log and TLS.WORKFLOW.md, one per project, in the repository. YAML front matter configures the project; the Markdown body is the agent's prompt.- The agent image
harness-agent:latest(and its browser variantharness-agent-browser:latest), built from the Sandboxes screen. - The Cloudflare bridge (optional), a Worker you deploy so agents can run in Cloudflare Containers.
